Will be purchasing a new handgun in the very near future. I am looking at the Glock 23 and wanted to get some feedback from owners or anyone with experience with them. The gun will be used primarily for home defense. Also wanted to find out recommendations as far as where to purchase. I have heard good things about brick armory and was planning on checking them out. Thanks!

    home defense get full size

why use compact for home defense?

Make sure you get night sights, no exceptions

I've been a Glock armorer since 1990. My dept has been carrying glock 23s since 1991. They are a rugged, reliable, accurate and reasonable priced gun.

The .40 s+w is a good round and the gun is good choice for home defense. It's straight forward design makes it very used friendly in high stress situations.

There are lots of other good pistol choices out there and many would prefer a good old shotgun. It's personal preference. I don't argue with people about guns anymore. Try a few and make an informed decision. Then train like crazy.

I buy them from a LE dealer. I don't know where to tell you to get one. I have a few of the old frame models sitting around. (I think there is only a few 9mm models that I don't have) If you are looking for a home defense gun I wold get a new one with the light rail and buy the light too. The light may be your best friend in a time of crisis.

Good luck. If you need any armorers work done. I'm down in the Deptford area. I'll do it for you. Free of charge. Basic inspections to parts replacement.

Glock 23 is a great gun for defense in general.
One thing worth mentioning is to stay away from th "C" model, as it will blind you when shooting in low-light conditions.

The Glocks are very good handguns.

The 22 is a full size the 23 more compact with a smaller barrel and grip.

I say handle both and see which one fits you better.

By the way,the 40 cal is a good choice.

great gun though for home defense or with possible kids around I'd consider something with a safety on it. although the glock has several safety features it does not have an actual safety on it.
