Braided line on a part boat?

Is this still a no no? I have not gone on a fishing boat in years. when i last went Braided lines were new. lol
They freaked when i had braided line. I fish on my boat so i use braided then a leader so if i lose anything its just the leader and rig because i use smaller than the main line.

I use it for all party boat fishing as do most with the exception being the party boat tuna trips. They do not want you using braid 60 or 80 mono is what most use. People on private boats might do things different.

Exactly what bfish said. But you can even back your reels with braid on most tuna boats. As long as you have 200-300 yds of mono on top.

I went bottom fishing on the Queen Mary and had braid line. The mate put 10 yards of top shot on my reel to comply with their rule.

i remembeer the days when you could roll down to the kmarts and pick up a few crab traps. imagine if you showed up with crab traps on the party boat. now braided line i could see. specially if you get those darn spider crabs working your bait. them things look like space aliens. almost as bad as those sally growslers.
