If he left a door open and the kid drowned, or ate Drano or tide tablets, that's child negligence should do jail time. Set a precedent for people, quit forgiving them for everything. There is a dead child, grieving parents, and siblings. He should get away scott free. I don't think so, his children should be considered at risk. I don't keep a loaded gun in the house and we don't have children living at home. When our grand kids are here we keep an eye on them. Kids are curious they are going to snoop and find stuff, know what they are up to.Think about this... Would the man have gotten 3 years in prison if he left the door open and the child drowned in the pool? How about if the kid chugged some drano on his watch?
Not saying he shouldn't be punished, he was clearly 100% at fault, but serving 3 years doesn't benefit anyone.
