    Panel box upgrade to 200amp

What's a fair price to go from a 100 to a 200amp box? I realize the price will vary based on a few variables such as access to the panel etc... Trying to get an idea before I get a couple of prices. Thanks.

I'm actually getting mine upgraded today 100->200, $1975+permit, Siemens 30 slot PL panel

You will probably get a lot of quotes in the $3000 range. Everyone kept telling me it should be 2k, so I kept calling contractors until a licensed + insured electrician would do it for 2k, and take out a permit, and actually show up on time HAHAH.

no way in hell I would DIY a service upgrade. I'll DIY bout everything in my house EXCEPT the SE cable and meter socket stuff. One wrong move you're dead or your house is burned down. This is a job for a licensed, insured, and competent electrician.

Try explaining to your home owners insurance why your new non-permitted load center burned your house down Hope nobody dies in that fire too.

Jd h A DIY involved a licensed electrician who was a friend and helped me out. I would never touch that line myself. I am afraid to change an outlet unless I turn the whole house off

Changed my panel to 200a a few years ago. Had a licensed electrician come in and he changed everything except the wire that went from the telephone pole to the house. He added all new wire outside of the house, new exterior pvc pipe conduit, new meter, new Square D box with QO breakers etc... He charged me $500 but I worked with him the whole day. I think all the materials were around $700-$800. Total cost was ~$1,200 - ~$1,300.
