There is a feature story in today's Philadelphia Inquirer about aggressive turkeys attacking residents in the suburban Phila. community along the Rancocas Creek. According to the article pedestrians and joggers are encountering birds that are pecking legs and even flying into the faces of people who don't back down. I wrote on their website comment page that this being New Jersey, where we do not have a "Stand Your Ground" law, that residents had better not resist these aggressors. In Pennsylvania I think the residents would handle the problem with baseball bats but this being Jersey they had better retreat into their homes and leave the mean streets of suburbia to bears, deer and yes, even turkeys, especially as the latter already control the state legislature.
