I'm looking for a welder to make a custom meat smoker similar to this:

It's a horizontal off-set smoker with a baffle and tuning plates.

I want something that'll last longer than the brinkmans i go through every few years.

Anyone make them or know someone in Jersey that does???

I'm sure there are a few meat-smoking hobbyists on here

I've had my Masterbuilt 30" smoker for the past 3 years and the thing has held up well. Only problem is you need to dedicate half a weekend day to cleaning the f**ker because the inside is all stainless and the juices get caked on.

Clean? That just means it's seasoned.

You and I are in same boat, my brinkman lasted 6 years and she's on her way to trash. Here's a great smoker that won't break the bank and will outlast and keep up with professional grade smokers! I just ordered the kit from vogelzang and found barrels on Craigslist. Check this page out and the videos from YouTube are awesome and informative

I've seen some done and instead of welding they just fastened with bolts. IE: hinges, side box handles, grates etc. a little ingenuity and ideas can save $

If it bothers you get one of those steam cleaners. Then the little lady can also use it to clean in the house, floors, tile oven.

go big or don't go, why not an old oil tank smoker, weld on an empty 20lb propane tank for the cooker area.

my point exactly....i'm debating spending that money on a nice MIG welder and dong it myself. I have some welding experience, just not the time to do it.
