I noticed alot of guys or girls on this site are worried about how much a deer will score . Its a nice buck and if you take this buck it might be the nicest buck you will ever get. Hunters need to feel satisfied on how they get the deer ,not the size or how much it scored . Best of luck and dont worry what other people think
I agree with deergetter.Â* WHO CARES how it will score?Â* That is a beautiful buck and unless you are one of these yahoos on TV hunting bucks on fenced in deer farms then you should be very happy with that deer.Â* I miss the old days of hunting when a big rack buck was a big rack buck.
I never said i wouldn't shoot this buck. I would be thrilled to get a shot at him! I asked the question just to get peoples thoughts on scoring. I would be very happy with this deer and it would be a true trophy for me regardless of what anyone else says. I don't care if it makes pope and young. It would still be my biggest buck and something I would be very happy and fortunate to harvest. Guess I shouldn't have asked an honest question

Score really doesnt matter to us! We do pass on tons of bucks every year in hopes of having more bucks like this walking around which has slowly started paying off!

Actually the whole scoring system does an injustice to bucks by having deductions .All points should be counted that is on a bucks rack!

Actually the whole scoring system does an injustice to bucks by having deductions
Spend some time studying the distinct differences between scoring typical and non-typical racks at the trophy level and you will quickly realize that a system that failed to recognize the differences between scoring the two would actually be the truly unjust system.

For young, or low scoring, deer in the 120-130" you won't see the differences that apparently. However, once you start talking 4.5 yr old plus 150"+ deer you will see that it is very easy to add inches of non-typical score that are in no way comparable to inches of typical score...very simply, that is the exact reason that why the minimum book scores for BnC NT bucks is 15"+ higher than for typical scores...small changes in additional NT points add up far faster than equivalent changes in main frame typical points!

In the end if you really think "every inch of bone should count", then you should be dipping your racks in a bucket of water and measuring the total displacement. That is only true way of honestly measuring total antler growth.

racks in a bucket of water and measuring the total displacement
Being a car guy that I am, there is a saying that is near ad deer (pun intended) to me that really can apply to deer – "there's no replacement for displacement"

All scoring methods aside, this gives total and exact mass every time.
