It depends on the amount of evoh in the film you vacuum sealed. At 6 months you will begin to lose some moisture and oxygen will start to penetrate but given a higher amount of evoh it can last a lot longer. Unfortunately you will never know how much evoh is in your film unless your in the plastics business aand send it to your lab for analysis

also depends on if the meat is stored in a frost free freezer. The frost free cycle will heat the freezer periodically to keep it frost free. Unfortunately, that also heats your venison at the edges hastening the dehydrating effect known as freezer burn.

I keep mine from start of Bow season to next season, if there is any meat left at the start of the season (September) I open it up and drop it off at the woods for the preditors to eat. 1 year is MAX.

I found a vacuum sealed pack of backstraps from 2008 last summer in the bottom of my chest freezer. Defrosted and grilled and it was perfect.

Found a pkg after 2 seasons and it looked and tasted as if I harvested weeks before. I freezer wrap then vacuum seal. If I ever get a pkg that became unsealed and showed signs of freezer burn, I just cut it off like peeling a potato. The inner meat is fine.
