Being in the pest control industry since the early 1990"s, I've seen my share of damage due to squirrels. Many years ago, I got a call about squirrels in the Martinsville Library attic. After moving a big book shelf and access panel to the attic, I crawled up inside. I immediately smelled something burning. I shined my flashlight and saw a fried squirrel that was smoldering after chewing through a romex wire. I traced the wire back to the breaker box and shut it off. Had I not shown up that day, the building could of burned down. Squirrels and raccoons are extremely destructive when they live in buildings. I read once where they estimate that 2% of "unknown" causes of fires every year are most likely due to squirrels.

about 11k total so far. And that not counting the work that needs to be done now. They chewed through the soffits on the front of the house. That all needs to be redone, and its not even 2 years old. I used to reach out my front bedroom window and smear peanut butter on the brick face, just down from the hole in the soffit. Then angle myself to the far right of my room, so i could get a shot with the pellet gun. Watch them come out of the hole, down the brick face to the pb, then waste them. Killed around 10 in 2 weekends. That was years ago when i actually lived there. But as soon as these were gone, others moved in. Its a never ending battle. Iam thinking of wrapping heavy gauge sheets of the platform steel you see on treestand platforms from the edge of the roof, around the fasciam and attach it right to the brickface. I cant think of any other way to keep them out.

    Here is what I use.

With the Have a heart you have to release them or "dispatch" them. I got tired of dealing with them so I bought one of these WCS™ Tube Trap - Standard | Wildlife Control Supplies
