I have a mantis tiller my second one wore out the first one, they are not the easiest to start even when new Pull choke out pull till engine sputters push in choke pull again and it starts, Forgot and left gas in it, that killed the Carb, went the cheap way on Amazon for a rebuild kit, The Carb Model is important, that failed for whatever reasons, so back on Amazon for a NEW Carb, installed it and its back as New, Throw the carb away and buy a new one the old one is a problem in waiting even if you get it to run. I put gas Stabilizer in all my containers from the get go. For My Mowers, Generator, Mantis, Weed Wacker, Chainsaw, I store 30 gal for Generator alone with Dry Gas and Stabilizer. Never a problem past 3 years, Plus do not wait till you need any of them start once in awhile.

It's all good ...I had panties on......hahaha...guy has right gasket but slipped off carb placing the seal...nobody said nothing about air quality but temp of engine or dry rot from sitting...you take it off the same way you put it back....also this guy didn't have a shop for a new gasket seal and your post didn't help the op in the time of need...So tomorrow when you go back to your shop,,,copy and paste from your mower" how to do it book" ...hope op isn't waiting for the proper way and sitting in 30" of snow all week....
