    Complete newbie question here

How far do you guys typically hike from your parking spot/campsite when hunting? Say I just want to spend a day hunting, how long does it typically take to drag a deer out of the woods?

I'm about a mile in, about a 15- 20 min walk. When walking out with a deer, I generally tie all four legs together with para cord and carry the deer like a gym bag with 3-4 rest it will take me 45 mins to get out. Walking out is mostly up hill.

I've been anywhere from 1/2 mile in to 150 yards from the parking lot. Have had equal success at both (at least until this year)

I go any where from 200 yds to 3/4 mile, but have gone further. Usually a 15 -20 min hike. Getting it out depends on age, shape your in, terrain and if it ran toward your truck or down hill. Shortest drag was a doe 15 min(ran right towards the truck ) The longest was a nice buck ran down hill , shot at 4:55 back at the truck 8:30. and only a 1/2 mile .
