I dont use bait because for 30 years I have been able to kill deer the way hunting was meant to be. Then again I haven't ever needed to internet scout or buy 1000 dollars worth of scent lok clothing to kill a deer either.
Its no fun anymore now that it is legal.
While I've used bait in the past, I I haven't used it in many years. The bigest reason is because of the time and effort to properly place a bait station and maintain it is just to big of a hassle and I find unnecessary for me. I have spent more time hunting public land with a bow and have found that hunting closer (within 300 feet has enabled me to pick off deer moving naturally through these more built up areas.
On a side note, even though its not legal everywhere, homeowners do throw out food for the deer and I am not above setting up a climber over a heavily used trail leading to their backyards, especially during the rut, because of all the does hanging around. Is does this count as baiting? I don't believe so because I am not hunting over the bait itself. I just believe its a savvy way to hunt suburban areas.
Surpass the master and you have paid his wager.
A shot hurried is a shot wasted.
Don't use bait or cameras. Bait draws in bears. The MAIN reason I ever started hunting was BECAUSE of the high I got from the cat and mouse game..
