As many of you know, I was gifted with a Wes Wallace "Partner" recurve over the summer. It was sitting for a long time and had seen little in the field use. I restrung the bow, got a couple dozen hours and set up the back yard range. I practiced repeatedly, and became proficient to 20 yards from the ground and from the tree. I made the commitment to go recurve only for the early season. I've had the bow out several times this season hunting as much as my schedule and a back injury allow. I was out yesterday p.m., and today for an evening sit.

The Wes Wallace looks good hanging from the tree:

Had a two does come in last night, but never got a shot. They took a trail other than what I anticipated, and instead of walking passed me at 18 yards, they turned and walked head on straight to me never presenting a shot. At 8 yards they winded me and my hunt was over.

Changed stands tonight and got out at 4:15 and was up the tree and settled in. By 5:00 p.m. I had two does working their way to me. I had these deer on cam and recognized them as the tagged deer. Here's a cam pic of the older doe.

I stood, readied myself, and when the older doe stepped into the clearing a let her fly. a 21 yard shot. It was all in super slow motion, and I distinctly heard a "thwunk" when the arrow burried itself on the fatal hit. She only went 25 yards.

    Here's the result:

Here's a close up of the tag:

To the best of my knowledge, this Wes Wallace recurve just had its Cherry POPPED!!!
Lord make me fast and accurate,
May my draw be smooth and unseen
Let my aim be straight and my shot true,

Grant me the skill to make the shots I can,
The restraint to avoid those I can't,
And the wisdom to know the difference,

So that I may be blessed with the bounty you provide

    Amen

do you know who/what the tag is from ?
Not 100% sure Paul. There is no phone in number or other info on the tag. It simply says "ARWS 43." Another site member suggested the tag was from a place called "Antler Ridge" and the deer was likley "rescued" as a fawn raised and then released into the wild. There's another tagged doe in the area that is only 1 1/2 years old and a bit smaller. The smaller doe was the first to enter the clearing tonight-I held off waiting for the bigger doe. So the smaller one got the pass and is still out there somewhere.
