    Hello,

Im new to this site and I am becoming interested in predator hunting such as coyotes. Im taking my hunters ed course soon and have been doing alot of research into predator hunting tactics and equipment.

I was wondering if anyone could give any pointers or tips on coyote hunting such as which areas of the state they are most prevalent. I assume northeast (sussex, warren, etc.) but are they in south jersey as well? Which WMA's would be a good choice?

    Thanks for the help!

welcome! yes, there are quite a few in south jersey. I dont know which WMA spot would be better than the next. Get in touch with me for next year and I can point you in the right direction.

Coyotes can be found though-out most of the state.
I live in the High Lands region and we have plenty!

As far as tips...The best advise I can give is to get out there and do it. You are your own best teacher cause what you experience for yourself is what you will remember ! Follow tracks in the snow and ask yourself "Why did he go here?". Look for places that they bed down...ridge tops, vantage points etc. These are the places to start calling during the day, At night they can be anywhere. But frozen swamps are almost a sure thing after the first hard freeze, The predators are able to access prey that was previously off limits to them.
When the weatherman is predicting a winter storm.GET OUT THERE ! The critters will be looking to fill their bellies before the weather turns bad. It's what I call the 'Milk and Bread' syndrome. Just like everyone feels the need to run to the Shop-Rite and A&P before the snow storm. Critters do it too.
You have plenty of time till next season. I suggest you spend some time on this site .. http://www.predatormastersforums.com/

Good Luck...The adrenaline rush you get from a chargeing Coyote in awesome!
