A friend of mine was telling me that it is legal to hunt pheasant on Sunday if it was stocked. So i said, "Let me ask you this, so because pheasant is stocked, I can go hunting for pheasant at Black River WMA?" he said yea! I argued with him for a little while then decided to check NJFISHANDWILDLIFE.COM to see and I can not find it on there. It just says no DEER hunting on Sundays. Is this true? Someone has to know.

Black River WMA is semi wild because it is stocked. Does that count as the exception?

no, state lands are not semi-wild, wether they are stocked or not.

Pefect. NowI get to rub it in my friends face, thanks.

One more question. I have a 4 month old lab, Do you think it is a good idea that I take him up there and let him roam and get the feel of the field and see if he can find a bird, I have been traing him to the scent and the wing but he is still a puppy and everyone knows how puppies are.

I would take the dog to a commercial preserve or join a semi-wild club and let him hunt there before taking him to any state land. I don't think 4 months old is too young to be out hunting and/or training. You can even let the commercial preserve know that you have a 4mo old when you book your hunt and maybe they can work with you to make it a great learning experience for the dog. I know Buttonwood will take you out with them to stock the birds so you have an idea where they will be at.

I think he means take him out on Sunday? I think that would be a perfect oppurtuntiy to get the dog on some birds without there being gunshots everywhere.

yes, I want to take him out on state land on a sunday, this way there is no hunters or guns. Does that can it, so it would be a good idea to get him out there.
