The downside to this is now the "regional" catch will put everyone way over quota and next year we will be fucked. Mark my words.
Gave up the bag limit for 17.5" size limit and the limit is already back up to 18"
Ready for school RDF?
You screwed yourselves last year when you wanted to give up 3 of your fish for a 1/2 an inch. You had 8 fish at 18" but in order to get a longer season you gave up 3 fish and a 1/2 so you can catch more keepers. (South Jersey Guys doing) Blame them.
Then you never cut your take in all 13 years this has been going on all the while NY was taking it on the chin. Because of NY's strict regs you enjoy the fishery there is today.
Now before the regs NJ boats used to swarm all over NY waters because the fluke are bigger, the two main places were the Ambrose channel in the fall and Jamaica bay all spring and summer.
But you in NJ had to stop fishing our waters because we were too busy tighting regs to save the fluke again all the while you were enjoying 8 at 18" and we were throwing back 3 1/2lb fluke because they were 20.5" and short because our creel was 2 at 21".
NY has more fisherman that NJ. NYC along with long Island has 12 million people, NJ in the whole state only has 8.4 million.
So you saying screw NY, the state that saved summer flounder is funny. You should be thanking us.
Time is like a river. You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life.

My is the same regs so fish on everywhere.

What would everyone want an early start date say beginning of May or a later end to the season? I say later end.
I would like to see it open mid June and close mid October. You can get really big ones in Ambrose Channel that time of year.
I will bet the Tournament guys are happy about this, this opens waters that weren't open for close to 11 years.
