Personally I don't care about the moon, rut predictions, or weather...if it's November and I can get in the woods, I'm hunting

Pffffffffffffffttttttt......what does he know. The rut is on be me now....exactly as TW has predicted.....Charlie Alsheimer predicted that the best time to be in the woods, as far as the rut goes, is from November 14-25.

The photo period decides the rut. It is the same each and every year for our latitude and longitude. Other factors decide the intensity of the rut and how many secondary ruts there are (which is based on out of balance herds with too many does for the bucks to breed in the 1st estrus cycle). The biologists in the know tell us the same thing every year for our area. The rut doesn't change dates here in NJ. Go to Florida or Canada and those dates will be different from ours.
^^^ are you sure the deer don't read the lunar calendar before they have sex
"I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have."
Daylight activity depends more on the weather than anything else. The cool temps of opening morning had bucks chasing does all over the woods. No the does were not ready but who cares as long as the bucks are actively moving.
Every year I send as much time in the woods as I can from late Oct thru most of November this ensures that I will have the benefit of the rut to increase my odds.
I love these articles. Just gets me so pumped for the rut!
