I was cleaning out my shed the other day and came across some nice pieces of lumber that I forgot about. Some realy nice mahogany and black walnut so I decided I was going to make my first call. I just put it together and the glue is drying.

Well I put the Paddle on the call this morning it took a little sanding and chalking and adjusting the the spring and screw but I think it dont sound to bad, it wont purr but it cuts and yelps ok.
No not yet this was my first call but I have an old craftsman wood lathe that I just unburried in my shed, I would like to turn a pot sooner or latter but im going to stick with the box calls for now. Turkeybeagle your call looks great[up]Njplotts your collection of calls look great also you guys do some realy nice work!!
Bushnlo, Thats a nice offer but I have alot to learn about call making [hihi] Maybe Njplotts will take you up on that offer[up] Bushden It dont soud to bad for my first call Im still working on making it sound better.
You don't need a lathe for scratch boxes. Table saw & drill. Most of those calls have been sold. here's some simple boxes I gave them all away. assort scrap maple, tigerwood cedar walnut.
sorry i meant to say i have 2 pieces of 1x6x7ft black
walnut if any one wants them for making turkey calls with.I do not need them for anything they are just some old cut offs from a job i did.
