I have a very interesting question:

NJ limits pistols to 15 round magazines. But, several
manufacturers are now selling pistols with a magazine capacity of over 15 rounds.

If I am interested in purchasing a firearm from a state outside of NJ, is it legal
for the out of state FFL to ship it to my NJ FFL, if the seller
removes (and does not send me) the magazine(s) for it?

I ask this as there is apparently a shortage of 15 round limit
magazine pistols for sale in NJ.

    Sincerely,
    Tom

If it's a semi auto you will be breaking the law. The reason why you won't find them in NJ is because they are illegal. The crazy part is that most guys won't fire more than 3 rounds. Back in the 80's the law got passed. It also applies to rifles as well.
No matter what happens, whether you succeed or not, if you stand up and do it right and pay attention, hunting will always give you what you need. It may not be what you were looking for, but it will absolutely be important enough to justify whatever you did to get it.”

They modified my bushmaster 10rd mags to hold 15 and did a good job. they had a good gunsmith but he is gone they have nobody now.

If they just send the pistol and go FFL to FFL yes it would be legal. Depending on the pistol (my XD for instance) they shipped with two 10 round mags. I had to purchase the 15rd mags from springfield.

    What are you talking about?

It's the magazine capacity that is illegal in NJ, not the pistol as just about every pistol can have a magazine that holds over 15 rounds.
