I know it seems to be a personal preference and alot of arguments over it. But I prefer to hang my deer with the hide on until i'm ready to butcher it. But I just got back from PA and everybody up there seemed to be practically yankin the hide off while draggin the thing out haha. I guess it's all up to the hunter and I know your supposed to get the meat cooled down asap. But what do you guys think? Feedback?
In the winter I'll hang my deer for a few days. Hide stays on until I'm ready to butcher.

I always skin the deer and hang it head down. This allows the deer to cool quicker and the skin comes off easier when the animal is warm. I am not 100% positive but I was always told that leaving the hide on spoils the meat. I hang the deer head down so all the blood drains out which does give the muscle fibers time to break down if hung for several days in the cold weather. Its all a matter of personal preferance as long as the deer stays cold!
