I spent the holidays at my girlfriends in Georgia. While driving around Georgia and South Carolina I noticed quite a few trees that each had 2 dead crows hanging by their feet. Does anyone have a clue why ? I can't find any info on it.

To keep them away. I give the crows to the farmer and he throws them in the freezer. After the coons eat the hanging crow, it gets replaced with a fresh one.

They were usually in the lowest branches in trees in front of the homes

It means your life expectancy as a crow is dramatically reduced by living in that town and that some sick demented kid is pretty good with his bee bee gun.

They do the same thing in the Everglades with turkey voltures. The living voltures wont come in if they see dead ones hanging. For some reason they like to attack car tires in parking lots. They hand a dead one from a pole and the others stay away from that area.

Hunting is not a competition of man vs man but rather a accomplishment of man vs nature.

If geranimo was shooting a crossbow we all be speaking apache.

hmm ,maybe a good idea to keep away tresspassers everyone is getting, get a life size mannequin and hang it at each entrance to the property and hang a no tresspasing sign of their chest might just work . plus if you dress them in camo the antis wont mind

They are effigies to keep other crows away. The concept works with a little sucess on gulls, half decent on crows, and works great on vultures. They do not feel safe where one of their own is dead so they move on. That's how we disperse vulture roosts from all the rich neighborhoods (except we use taxidermic mounts of dead vultures).

It was weird. My Girlfriend lives down there and never noticed it until I pointed it out as we were driving to take her daughter to a friends house
