Some Green Acres are owned by the municipality and some by county or state..Green Acres allows funds to purchase properties. You need to look up who owns that particular parcel and check what thier policy is on hunting that parcel..

Striper, Wall Township passed an ordinance against hunting on Township owned properties over 10 years ago..So unless they have passed a new ordinance you will not be able to hunt Green Acre properties owned by Wall..

Green Acres provides low interest (2%) loans and grants to municipal and county governments to acquire open space and develop outdoor recreation facilities. Green Acres works with local governments from the time of application through project completion. Over 80,000 acres have been protected and hundreds of recreation development projects throughout the state have been financed through Green Acres' Local and Nonprofit funding program.

Green Acres also provides matching grants to nonprofit organizations to acquire land for public recreation and conservation purposes.

The above was from the NJDEP website..Again Green Acres is oly a means to acquire property. You need to research who owns that particular parcel..It can be State, County or Municipality or even Non-Profit (ex. The Nature Conservancy)..

however the permit application deadlines are Aug 15th, it is good for 2 years, and you can only apply for 1 green acres parcel. Again you must apply for the permit between 6/1 & 8/15 they don't accept them early or late.

Also, hunting is only allowed on portions that are acessable from public roads. There is no hunting on landlocked portions where tresspassing is required to reach it.

Beaverkill hit it right on the head. We have numerous pieces of property in the Twp I work for. A lot of it was purchased in part with Green Acres funding. It is up to the Twp to p [no swearing please] an ordinance to allow or not allow hunting or any other kind of recreation on the property.
We fortunately do allow hunting on about 2/3's of it.
