It's not true. It wasn't the state, it was a bunch of insurance companies that wanted the deer killed. There were actually 28 pair and they were not fed for 3 weeks prior to releasing them. They were dropped by unmarked black helicopters at night. I only know this because my sister's friend's brothers live-in girlfriend works for the company that makes the stealth coating that is on the helicopters. This special coating is also applied to the mountain lions so they can not be photographed.
I heard they are going to release some African lions to take care of the bear population in northern NJ in a couple of months.
