    Bought a 257 wby

I always wanted a 257 wby mag, so I just purchased the remington 700 w sf barrel. I bought 110 grain nosler accubond bullets. Anyone shoot a 257? Any suggestions

Don't have one or shot one but I have shot 257 Roberts. The 275 WMR is a .243 on steroids. Like all 6mm's long distance made easy with this round. It is a .25 caliber so if you can get 80gr Bullets for it your good to go in NJ. Although Roy Weatherby designed the cartridge it has the sharp shoulders of an Ackley Improved round.

Congrats, you're going to love it. Light recoil, awesome muzzle flash in low light, poleaxes deer like nothing I've ever seen.
Suggestions? Don't shoot more than 3 shots at a time if you don't want to melt the barrel. The Accubonds have worked well for me on a wide range of game, if they won't shoot for you, give the TTSX loading a try.

Gunsmith, Bob White recommend I buy a 257 from him.
There was a target at his shop with
    a "record group."

If the gun is used you better have it checked. If there ever was a barrel burner that is it. I am assuming the gun has a 10 twist barrel. 110's may or may not be a good choice. If you don't get the accuracy your looking for try a lighter bullet. My 243 is a 10 twist and I can't shoot the big bullets. But it shoots 58gr OK. You should have no problem with the 87 grainers.

    Deer.
Got it great choice and I was considering it as well but ultimately went with a 243. My buddy had a 257 Weatherby Magnum that I used in Texas and while I liked the gun I went with the 243 due to a little less recoil and availablity and price of ammo. He was running weatherby magnum select plus 100g ammo out of his gun and I think he told me was paying about 90 bucks for a box of 20, which I thought was crazy. I also remember that gun being loud as hell lol....

The gun is new....remington 700 w stainless/fluted barrel. I got decent deal on ammo (comparatively).... $56 a box. The barrel will be free floated, glass bed under receiver, & trigger will set at 2.5 lb. I like the steel warne bases & rings. Lastly, top it off w a simple scope...leupold vx3i 3.5x10x40.....duplex reticle
