Just recently I read an article in Deer&Deer Hunting mag about the use of pre-orbital gland secretions on licking branches. Anyone ever try this or heard of great success?

I really found this article to be interesting.

Although they didn't advertise any specific brand they made mention of Gene Wensel and doing a google brings up Smokey's Preorbital Gland Lure.

Yes. I've used the Code Blue Tarsal Gland product on licking branches.

Either use with a mock scrape or go to an existing scrape, put it on the existing licking branch, then piss in the scrape.

    Definately works.

preorbital gland scent is the one to use on licking branches Jeff. when a deer works a scrape it deposits scent from its preorbital glands which are located on its forehead near its eyes. that's why preorbital gland scent is the perfect one to use for scrapes.

This is nothing new, I remember using "Dave Kershaws"(spelling?) version of pre orb. scents probably fifteen years ago.
Yes it did give some positive results,.I was using one of those drip bottles over a "mock scrape" setup that I put together.

I read it also and actually ordered it.It's a 1.25oz bottle cost like $33.Going back out to Kansas July 28 to pull trail cam cards and set up some more cameras.Im going to set up a couple licking branches on field edges using it.Interested to see how well it works.
