My next door neighbors kid is 8 years old and he is in love with the Great Outdoors, Fishing and Hunting. His parents are not Outdoor Sportsman so he comes to me for the connection and the mentoring. Naturally I give him as much encouragement as possible.
Well today, he came over to show me his home made bow and arrow, which he made by himself. I am blown away by the thought and detail that went into this thing. Check out the ARROW REST!!!!!
Hey Dan - No he's from the house to my left. I've taken him into the woods several times in the back yard. He's out there all the time anyway. I get him on the trail cam. Last year I taught him how to look for rubs and other sign. His retention is flawless on this kind of stuff. Sometimes he tells me stuff with such detail, I'd swear I was talking to one of you guys. He's picks it up from the hunting shows.
He already had me talk to his Mom about it, I think a trip to Cabela's in the fall might be in the works. He's going to Dick's this weekend for a new fishing pole because he wore his first one out!!!
Not suprising. My 8yo remembers everything and reminds me things I've told him. He sees deer sign and shows me all the time but it's stuff like the fox dens and things like that that he'll pick up and show me.
