    Another newbie

Hey guys, I've been on the forum for awhile now just finally registered! I have a small piece of property I've been watching all summer, and don't you know they started construction on the backsides this week!!!! Sat in the rain yesterday morning til about 130 2pm. Then decided to gamble and shoot over to white oak and didn't see squat. Had some kids squirrel hunting. Gonna try do some some scouting over in Winslow and Wharton this week. i had a house fire last month so they got me in a hotel now. So I'm hunting and scouting every chance I get, trying to get some new spots in my pocket. Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!! Hope you guys are having better luck!!!!

It's a tough zone. To deep you blow them out & to shallow you don't see crap. ...

Passed through Winslow on my way back from Z47 today, several trucks roadside. Haven't been in Wharton for ages so not sure how viable it's been.

Seems there's a lot more guys hunting archery since crossbows became legal. I was thinking of maybe hitting some swamps and seeing where it gets me. I hate having to scout in season!!! This is what the summer was for... Last time I put all my chips in one property.

Give it a week or two and Winslow will be virtually a ghost town. There really isn't a bad area, some are better of course, set it up and you will see deer. They get bumped around in there so much from people wandering around scouting. The edges really are what gets hit hard, I think your average hunter is afraid of the dark and get lost after a 100 yards. Dont be afraid of treestands they are everywhere but rarely, if at all, hunted. Dont hunt deep unless you have a spot set-up bouncing around in there just runs them out. A lot of guys do it and thats what get them to move out of there. The big boys are gone with just a little pressure.

Any other help just ask, I know that woods like the back of my hand, been wandering that piece since 1976.

Awesome offer...what more could you ask for than almost 40 years experience/familiarity with an area?

I'm thinking about setting up a spot at the river on the 73 side of it. That is pretty deep in my opinion. A lot of people hunt the river?
