Does anybody have the new taurus home defense pistol? They have two different ones.  One is designed to shoot .410 000 buck shot.  They other is a .45 .  Looks like a really cool little weapon especially the pistol that chambers the buckshot.

they have been out for a while now. They are REALLY cool guns

You can chamber a .410 shot gun round or a .45 long colt pistol cartridge. this baby packs a punch

Sure looks like a hell of devastating short distance revolver.

A large bulky (and ugly too) revolver that doesn't seem to shoot either round particularly well. And if you want to shoot .45LC, then get a good S&W M25 in that caliber. If you reload you can make shotloads for the .45LC and use them in your M25. The M25 is a bit handier and a much better made revolver. Check the banters on the 1911 Forum about the Judge. Might be okay for "under seven yards" but it strikes me as more of a novelty weapon than anything else. Just my opinion.

unless your are using 45 lc for defense in that thing you are a moron.  a .410 slug isnt even as powerful as most handgun rounds and people are gonna shoot 3 pellets of buckshot out of it?  You can have it ill take 16 rounds of 9mm or 8 rounds of 45 any day.

One of the ammo makers just came out with a special defense load for it. Its really making an impact in the industry. This year they came out with a long arm version that looks real nice.

I was in Meltzers once  and this guy was asking if they recomend a gunsmith because his went back to Taurus 3 times and they still couldn't fix a problem he was having with it

The only thing the judge is good for is killing snakes.

Shot one.  Cool gun but it's a novelity item, something to get when you got everything else pratical and just want a cool toy.

JMO...Best home defense waepon for anyone, novice or expert is a pistol grip, short as legally possible barreled 20 gauge.

the judge is a great gun to keep by your side to answer your door with late at night. close quarters shot with in 6-8 feet that gun will do some damage

Judge is a great gun to keep in your truck or for shooting snakes.  Other than that I can't find a use for it.

so getting hit in the body, head, arm, leg at 6-8 feet(if you are opening your door even closer like 3 feet)  1,2 or 3 times this wont hurt or drop them?

it seems it would be most effective with alternating loads of .410 buckshot and .45 colt.  45 colt is a big bullet.  i think it would knock anybody to the ground in a hurry. while i agree it is a novelty weapon so to speak it seems that it could be very effective for home defense.

i just am saying i think its a great gun to havei n your house for close quarters and literally answering the front door at night time. if someone was breaking in your house i wouldnt think twice to reach for my 9mm, 40, or 12 g

Wow... what a GREAT concept...  I need one.  Anybody who says either of these rounds at the range this gun is designed for wouldn't knock you down is fooling themselves.

Plus many of us have reloading stations for 410 so you could even make some nasty custom rounds.

I extra agree with this - but remember, when you go into fight or flight, unless you are trained in tactical combat (and even then) you're going to lose accuracy when you panic (which you WILL - adrenaline doesn't care how cool you think you will be when the time comes).

Scatter guns are great - and they don't go far so the neighbor / person in the next room is less likely to get hit by "overspray" / passthru.

it is more manuverable than a 20GA with buck shot but i would rather the intimidation of the shotgun plus a better round with the 20.

hahahahahahahaha,  no $@!* , so check out pics of people shot  with a shot gun at close range and then come talk to me and tell me it wouldnt do anything but piss someone off.  yes i know there are more pellets and all that other stuff with a full size shot gun but it is the same concept with a damn 410 round.

i have to agree with buckcrazy. you can kill someone with a 22 if you hit the right spot i promise that a close range blast with a 410 will get the job done. and even if you dont kill the guy he sure as hell isnt going to want to stick around for any more
