NJ Hunter / New Jersey Hunting / Hunting Clubs & Land Leases / Sullivan County Hunting Club Needs Members
Posted:  13 Mar 2010 12:51 PM
Hi, I am a member of the Ten Mile River Hunting Club. We are located in Sullivan county in the town of Tusten which is about 20 minutes past Monticello. We have approx 8 openings for the 2010 season. We have 3 parcels of land totaling 2700 acres. We also have a large lodge with approx 20 bedrooms 2 people per room. The house opens in April and closes at the end of the regular big game season.  Dues are $900 per year and new members pay a one time initiation fee of $250. Our first work weekend (there are 2 per year) is the last weekend of April. If you are interested that would be a great time to come up to see the lodge, take a tour of the land and meet all the guys. If anyone has any questions or is interested please contact me.

How many bucks were killed in 2009??? Out of how many hunters??
Posted:  13 Mar 2010 1:00 PM
7 bucks 1 bear 7 does. 33 guys in club but some have there own property near by and just use the house to stay in. Another bunch of older guys who dont even hunt anymore then approx 8 guys who come the first weekend and you dont see them anymore. everyone could have taken a doe but most dont. We are in area 3K which is an antler restiction zone bucks must have 3 points on one side to be legal. Plenty of 4 pointers and spikes were seen but they are off limits.

Women are welcome from when the house opens in April up until the season opens. When the big game season opens in Oct no women allowed. The rule was mad many years ago (the club was founded in 1974) too many guys and after a beer or two someone made a comment about someones wife, girlfriend or whatever and a huge fight broke out so that was the end of that. Never a problem since. That was way before my time this will be my 12th year in the club.

It is great up there. The antler restrictions have been in place 4 years now and it is definatly working because the deer we take up there now are really nice. For some reason most of the bucks we take up there have odd numbered racks such as 5 pts, 7 pt and 9 pointers it must be a gene thing up in that area. We did take 2 tens and 2 6 pointers the last few years though but the majority are odd numbered.

Thats a nice lodge.
Posted:  15 Mar 2010 1:32 PM
Thank you. Aside from the 20 bedrooms it has 6 bathrooms with hot showers, large dining room that seats 60, living room with big screen cable tv, a pool table, ping pong table, back deck with barbeque, 2 shipping containers for quad and other storage.

This is a nice place.

And if you fish as well boy o boy will you be happy. We have 9 lakes on the property plus we are right next to the Delaware. Alot of guys bring the kids up in the spring and summer there is so much to do. fishing, rafting, quad riding, skeet shooting, barbequeing, or absolutely nothing.

Non smoking inside the lodge. The guys who smoke go out on the front or back porch.
