Here is a message I just recieved from Lonegan. It says it all about union politics. It also shows that Republicans (especially Smith & Lo Biondo) are as bad as Democrats

Quote:
WHY DID THE SEIU GIVE $32,500 TO CHRIS SMITH??
Dear Friend:

Last week I wrote you to tell you about Alan Bateman and his campaign for Congress against thirty-year incumbent Chris Smith.  Many of you wrote me back to tell me you’ll be joining me on March 20th at Alan’s fundraising event CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION

Some of you also wrote back to ask for more about Congressman Smith’s 30-year record of getting more and more liberal.  Here’s some more facts about Congressman Smith’s very liberal record...

Congressman Smith is one of only two Republicans to co-sponsor the so-called “Card Check” bill that would replace secret union elections with a process where a union would be certified if a majority of employees signed a union card.

Under the Smith Bill (also sponsored by pro-Cap and Trade New Jersey “Republican” Frank LoBiondo), union thugs would be able to use threats and intimidation to get workers to create unions in cases where they can’t win a fair union election.

It’s something you would expect Democrats to support -- BUT NOT A REPUBLICAN FROM A SAFE REPUBLICAN SEAT!

But that’s what Chris Smith is doing -- and just another reason why it’s time for him to go!  Alan Bateman opposes “Card Check” and will fight this bill in Congress.  He deserves your support.

CLICK HERE TO GET TICKETS TO ALAN BATEMAN’S FUNDRAISER FEATURING SPECIAL GUEST MAYOR STEVE LONEGAN, OR MAKE A DONATION TO HELP HIS CAMPAIGN!

There’s more...

Chris Smith has been Big Labor’s #1 “Republican” ally.  And one of the unions that really likes Smith is the SEIU -- the Service Employees International Union.

Does that name ring a bell?

They’re the union thugs in Purple Shirts who’ve been trying to disrupt “Tea Party” meetings.  They’re the left-wing zealots leading the fight for President Obama’s government-run Socialized Medicine scheme.

Take a look at their website to see just how radical they are...

http://www.seiu.org/index.php

(Like Smith, they also support Amnesty for Illegal Aliens too!)

This group has given Chris Smith AN UNBELIEVABLE $32,500 in campaign contributions since 2000!

Now why would a left-wing Socialist Labor Union support a “Republican” Congressman?

Simple.  The Fourth Congressional District that Smith “represents” in Washington is a safe Republican seat, made even more so in the 2002 redistricting that took out parts of Trenton and added even more of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

The unions know that too.  They know they’ll never elect a Democrat in this seat, so with Smith they have the next best thing...and that’s why he’s the number one GOP recipient of SEIU campaign contributions.

If the left-wing SEIU is with him, why are you?

Alan Bateman opposes the radical SEIU agenda in Washington, and unlike Chris Smith, who supports it, Alan Bateman will fight that extremist liberal gang and add one vote to the conservative side, not the Nancy Pelosi-Barack Obama side.

CLICK HERE TO STOP THE SEIU UNION BOSSES BY DUMPING CHRIS SMITH AND SUPPORTING PRO-TAXPAYER “TEA PARTY” REPUBLICAN ALAN BATEMAN FOR CONGRESS.

Alan Bateman is a man of principle and solid conservative.  He’s shown courage by running against Congressman Smith.  Like me, he believes that a safe Republican House District should be represented in Congress by a solid conservative -- not a left-wing pro-union, environmental extremist liberal -- and that’s who Chris Smith has become.

It’s time for a change in Congress -- time for a conservative change.  If you cannot contribute $250 or more to buy a ticket to the March 20th fundraising event I will be holding for Alan, please give something.  Whether it is $20, $50 or $100 -- or even $10.  Please do something.  I can’t think of another candidate running anywhere in New Jersey -- or in the nation for that matter -- who deserves your financial support more than Alan.  Please help him win: CLICK HERE TO HELP ALAN BATEMAN DEFEAT “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) CONGRESSMAN CHRIS SMITH.  IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE IN CONGRESS!

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on March 20th.

On to Victory,

Steven Lonegan

"Sorry for wanting safe places to work, bathroom breaks, and a lunch.  Yes, those places still exist where they find ways for you not to get lunch etc."

I worked independant for 20 years,we always had lunch breaks, and you could go to the bathroom whenever you wanted, and we followed the same saftey rules the unions do.
I'm self employed now,I don't take lunch breaks,I'm home with a sick kid today,so I get to have lunch today.

The benefits of self employment.

When you work for some one else who does not allow paid days off your sick kid goes to school or you have to rely on family member.

Remember there is a difference between work out of a hall versus working for a union company.

Pointless thread.  You will see in the years to come how bad it will get again.

Cap & trade and "card check" will be the final nails in the coffin for the USA. There will be zero manufacturing going on here after that.

Come on now.  The President is a genius.  I heard it on the news.  He wouldn't let that happen.

You are correct my friend, seems everybody has a problem with big business making money but what they don't understand is without big business...who employs a large percentage of americans? Who makes up the largest tax contribution towards a municipalities budget? Hmmmmmmm I'm sure one of the liberals here have the answer

he Unions are the biggest part of the problem,Teachers,Construction,PD,FD.
they are too politically connected and curry too much favor, all at the expense of taxpayers because of a corrupt system.

the Unions need to be reformed,I know in the construction unions the vibe is "screw the contractor" well that wouldn't fly in the private sector for a minute.employees and employers need to work together, there needs to be give and take, the people that produce get raises, the slackers get walking papers.
I have worked around and even manged Union electricians, they wouldn't think for a second about working through a break in order to get the job done so the contractor could make a proffit.
I know not all union guy's are like this,I'm just relating my experiance.

I have to agree somewhat with adkrick on this one
I have worked both sides of the fence also.
The intent of the union's mission ( job protection etc) I can agree with but it's how it's carried out
("screw the contractor" )is common place.
I worked with a "Merit Contractor" for years.
When working prevailing wage projects we had unions picket us and close down the job because they claim we were not getting paid the right scale when we were.
Being told by by Union Brothers not to work to fast wasn't in my work book also by not working at all overrides those rules.

No denying this.  Liberals always want to demonize big businesses.  They are always to blame.  Are there corrupt business owners?  Are large corporations sometimes unethical?  Obviously the answer is yes, this is sometimes the case.  However, what most who do not understand simple economics (like our President) fail to realize is that you can't have a working economy without big businesses.  They employ many people and they absorb a huge portion of the tax burden in most cases.  When an Administration sees Government as the engine that drives the economy, you are seeing the beginning of the end in no uncertain terms.

So simple isn't it?  Amazing how this concept is beyond some folks capability to grasp.

The reason we taxpayers can't afford it is because the Legislative and Executive branches of NJ Government took billions and billions from the pension system to spend on expanding Government in other areas. Had they not done that, the pension system would be fine.

No the problem is the market took a shit. Yes I understand the fund was raided but do you really think the investment made a dime in the last 5 years?
