How did that event come about with those two stores, Harry's and Sportsman Center? They are pretty close and they are both fairly large stores. How do they co-exist and how does it work out to have that event at the same time in the summer? Are they friends or same owner? __________________ "A nation trying to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket trying to lift himself up by the handle."

Both are excellent stores and yes they are only a few miles apart. People go to each shop for different things. If you know what you want I would go to Cheyenne Mt Outfitters "harry's new name" it will be cheaper there. if you need bow work done or are new to bowhunting and want a place to shoot and someone to teach you proper technique I would go to Sportsman's Center. Sportman's center is more expensive but their bow technicians are extremely knowledgable. They really take the time to do things right. __________________ "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity" Randy Pausch The Last Lecture. I used to work at Harry's when it was just Harry's. Harry's started out at the old (Yardville?) flea market selling just Army surplus. The original stored burned down-My dad remembers the fire from when he was a kid-he said you could see the ammo going off like fireworks. I forget what they called the big bowhunting event (their version of the Bowhunter's Jamboree at Sportsman's Center) but I remember that it was almost more about treestands than anything else. They would rent 3 or 4 semi trailers and FILL them with treestands that were seriously discounted. One year a treestand company was going out of business and Harry's managed to buy up some of the last of their inventory-people went nuts for them. I will say that spending long hot days in those dusty trailers pulling treestands for people was less than fun. It was a pretty interesting place to work-paid my bills through part of college anyway. __________________ I got a shotgun

| I've been to both and they are a nice road trip from up north for the day. I remember back in the day when Targeteers used to have a similar jamboree, guest speakers, sales, getting eye f-ed from the grandma behind the counter.... No-one up north has anything like the southern event.. Do they??? | ||

Who knows maybe a shop up north will do something like that. I used to get the same treatment at Targeteers. Had some strange experiences with the staff there. I remeber one time i went there to buy raw shafts and when i asked the guy at the archery counter to see if they had my size he said: "for what". I turned and walked out and never been back. Thats too bad, I always hear good things about the son. Iguess the guy who runs it now, i forgot his name. __________________ "A nation trying to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket trying to lift himself up by the handle."
