What if deer from a type of zoo were released to the wild?  Do you think the deer would just come up to you looking for food and it would be an easy target?
I sure do.  The deer wouldn't know what hit 'em.

After a couple close calls they'd wise up in a hurry

Yeah, I think so.  Unless they're stupid enough not to wise up.

A fallow deer from Great Adventure was spotted on various farms around Cream Ridge/Imlystown a few summers ago.  It was even caught on some hunters trail cameras.  It was as wild as any whitetail, and I even heard that some guys were trying to hunt it.  I never heard what happened to it, its probably hanging on someones wall.

I remember when I was a kid,an exotic buck ecscaped from Jungle Habitat in West Milford. Some local guy shot it which caused a big law suite. I don't recall the outcome of it all.

Great Adventure has a safari, which includes all kinds of wild beasts.  Including the illusive fallow deer.

I heard about a huge buck that was shot in Readington last year, around the back side of Round Valley. Apparently it had been a pen raised deer that got loose. Not sure what happened to it, as it was shot legally, but I don't think the state allowed it to go into the book

anyone else hear of this?

ChrisM, I was at that safari last year, and I don't remember seeing fallow deer, but I'll take your word for it
Next time I go I'll look carefully
