Look up all the northern WMA's.  Scouting is key, they get hit hard especially in the early season so you have to do your homework.  Find any river and you will have some woodies on it in the early season, and as long as there is open water, big ducks in the late.  The deeper you go into the marsh will usually result in better shooting.  Theres a ton of little nooks and crannys up north to find.  we are still finding them, and some are closer than you think.  Good luck.

There's A TON of ducks in the coastal and southern regions

Like mosquitoes

In all seriousness, there's dozens and dozens of spots, some obvious (WMAs and other state land like Black River, the Delware Water Gap, etc.), some not (like little back creeks).  Spring is a good time to drive around and scout out spots.

Want to try it next year... Always deer hunted, bow gun muxxel loader just want to learn and try different things

As Murray said the spring is a great time to scout.  You catch the birds coming back to the same spots you will catch them migrating through in the fall.  Back creeks and swamps are your best bet, along with utilizing google maps to find alot of areas you would think are not even there.

Plenty of ducks in North Jersey just have to scout and scout again. I would also attend a few dinners and join your local chapters.

Very nice guys working (volunteers) the dinner last night. It was my first event. I was there with Duckfever101 and the wives (they had fun, and lots of wives there). They auctioned off some beautiful carvings, prints, calls, etc. The also raffled off some very nice gifts for kids, women, dogs, and hunters including a Charles Daly 3.5 pump. I didn't win anything, but several people at my table did including a very nice camo gear bag worth some $$. Get involved. Rich (duckfever101) and I both signed up to volunteer. Great people and great organization. http://www.ducks.org/
