For the permit seasons, yes. You also have to join the Fort Dix Gun Club, about $20.00. You must go register before every hunt and can call to sign out when done. You can only hunt in the areas that are opened, and they can close them at any time. If you get used to the system it is not too bad, but it can be a hassle ay times. __________________ The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.

The only problem I think I'd have is the check in. You can call in to check OUT but not call in to check IN?
Also I remember hearing something about them assigning N hunters to a given section of the base and those N hunters can only hunt that section. Is there anywhere we can read more about the hunting structure and rules/regs for Fort Dix? |

You have to go to the office on Range road to get good details. Once you sign in to an area for the day thay is it. You cannot change for that day. If you have left a stand or baited a sight and they close the area, you are SOL. You have to be willing to accept the good with the bad. They do have an early muzzle loader hunt, and last year they had permits left a few days before the hunt. __________________ The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.

| fort dix is comprised of a mixed bag. part of it is like the pine barrens with tough hunting and small racks. then there are areas near greener lands with fields and such that hold bigger bucks.the current fee is 28$ that is each year. you do have to sign in and out. sometimes that can be a pain. this past night there was like a hundred hunters signing in and out.you also need to check daily if the area your hunting is going to be open. sometimes the military close down or only let you hunt the morning.ive been hunting there for years and im use to it but its not for everyone. | ||

| You can go to the club house at range 14 and get all the information on hunting and fishing on the base. range 14 also has a good bow range. | ||

I shoot at range 14 and fished the lake down the road. Ive never hunted there, but I do know this time of year the range gets jammed with people sighting in for gun season __________________ The bowman, to be successful as a hunter, must learn to perfection the habits of his game.

Here's my Dix deer from opening day Muzzleloader. I was looking more for meat, but in the December hunt I am ready to look for racks. My uncle has been trying to get me to come to Dix for years... from now on, I'll be bugging him! Monday was the first time in my almost 20 years of hunting where I had to stand up in my climber and use my binoculars to choose which deer was the biggest to shoot. That's worth it in my book!

PS.. the rules are tight, and they can kick you out at any time based on the needs of the Army (where have I heard that before!) But they also plant fields with feeder forage, and the deer come right in on cue. Lots of guys though... get there early and don't break any rules!
