The article say's the butcher isn't on their approved list and is gettin $100/per deer. Sounds like typical politics to me. $5,000.00 compensation to the hunters. The UBNJ has put an official statement on our website. We are working with F&W to clear up the items the anonymous caller has brought up. The UBNJ has and always will continue to work with the division and fish and game council. In fact we are working with F&W on a bowhunter mentoring program right now. The UBNJ NEVER recieved any money from any town for a hunt. The guy on the Quad had permission because he was handicapped, had Parkinson! Was told he had to take a stationary location, after a few guys complained of his riding around. BigFish with 4 post comes on with something to say about UBNJ, must be either: Larry Heerighty (hence BigFish) and bleeping Anti (member of KLIP) or a toolbag who was thrown out of a UBNJ hunt! My guess is the latter, usually with guys who have nothing but negative things to say with 4 post under his belt are guys that got thrown out of a hunt or couldn't qualify cause he slapped his old lady kind of a toolbag! Bigfish you're fooling nobody!

Why in the world would the UBNJ use a butcher that was not certified by the state Department of Health. The meat was being distributed to public facilities & would be a huge black eye on even the HHH program if somebody were to get sick. Seem that maybe somebody cut a $50/per deer deal on the $100 alloted for butcher cost.

The butcher was certified, just not on the HHH list. NjBowman, you need to get this stuff into the papers. The Bergen Record(Passaic County edition) ran the posted story in today's paper, and I'm just waiting for the posts to appear on nj.com. I've been fighting with the antis on nj.com/forums/passaic and west paterson forums, and most of them are pissed off that not much info about the hunt is being made public. Also, they are confused about what the money is used for, and that the butcher isn't "certified" I've been defending the cull, but many of the antis are questioning the money and change of butchers. I can't comment on that because I'm not a UBNJ member and don't know the facts. Unfortunately, there's an on-going investigation, which we are cooperating with, due to this Anonymous caller the DEP commissioner claims to have received. UBNJ has made a statement on it's website and due to the investigation, I'm not at liberty, neither are our officers able to speak now. Everything is being addressed in a formal investigation.
