i shot a doe tonight, on film.
i hit her quartering away, but a little far back.
it looks like liver into diaphram on off side. the arrow was half out of her, with the lumnock shining brite.
she went across a bean field thats 150 yards wide. then into some CRP grass. i could see the green light the whole time. i hit her at 6:45.
right now it's 67* then dropping to 59*
leave or track at 9pm

I would have a good meal call the boys up and head back out. She will blow up in these temps. If you jump her I would back out till first light,if she's expired and you wait till the morning the critters my get to her. Good Luck keep us posted

My rule of thumb is would you leave a steak out overnite and chance eating it in the morning. In cooler temps, hell ya, but in warm temps hell no. I would try a little later. Good luck

eating dinner and headed out around 9-9:30.
got to call the butcher. this deer is for the HHH program. i wanted to film the paperwork and drop off. i'm calling them right now.

just called the butcher, HHH won't start for a couple more weeks. they started in this program three months ago, and they still aren't cleared for HHH. they have turned away half a dozen deer already.
time to watch the film and have a few dogs. leaving at 9, then i guess i'm boning it out tonight.

I would say go get her too! If you hit one lung you will be just fine. I would go home, eat some dinner and grab a few guys if you can. Goodluck

I stuck one this morning quartering away, she ran 40 yards then started walking, I waited an hour got down and got the arrow had some guts on it so I let her go another 1.5-2 hours.  I found her 20 yards from where I last saw her.  Shot was fine, stomach, liver, nicked one lung center punched the other, but her reaction and the stomach contents on the arrow had me concerned.  Anyway when I got to her (about 3hrs after the shot) she was already bloated like balloon and covered with flies.  There is no way I would leave one overnight right now if I could avoid it.

Its to warm, get out as Soon As You Can. But dont pressure her be very cautious & try not to jump her. (if she is still alive)

Good Luck.

well it didn't turn out good.
after she crossed the CRP she got into a swamp, a flooded swamp. i found very little blood. i trailed her for another 75 yards on water. i found the arrow. the broadhead gone, insert still in. only 8" of arrow had blood on it.
i could not find any deer above water.

i haven't lost a deer in at least 4 years. this sucks.

maybe the broadhead ran down the diaphram.?????????

Possible. I'd go back after her in the morning. May be easier to find her in the daylight.

I had the same thing happen to me tonight. Sounds like a similar hit too.
