NJ Hunter / New Jersey Hunting / Field Testing and Evaluation / New for 2006 testing committee
Posted:  30 Dec 2005 9:45 PM   Last Edited By: hkdonfishn
Okay guys I am going to do something different this year with the testing.

1. I am going to try and start a T&E Committee. What this is going to consist of is 6 members from the board that have 1000 post or more to test hunting and fishing items.

2. I would like to try and setup meetings in a place convenient to all the members of the committee to meet up and go over the things being tested.

3. The Committee will change every year to allow other members to test out equipment.

4. If one of the other members on the forum want to submit something they have tested they will need to send me an email with the description of the item or the write-up of the results. All items must be related to the outdoors. Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Hiking etc...

I think with the new setup more items will be tested and the outcome will be more complete.

Please post your thoughts on this plan for the New Year. Also I would like to say thanks to everyone who posted a T&E and Happy New Year to you all.

How come 1000 posts is the criteria for being a part of the testing?

Just to make make the Committee a little easier to create as the majority of the members have under 1000 posts. Picking people to be in the committee would be difficult. But thinking about the question there are allot of members that have been here since the beginning that don't have 1000 posts but have still contributed allot of time and input during that time.
So reconsidering the 1000 post rule I will set it up to include members that have been registered since at least May of 2005 and has over 500 posts.
All members that fit the criteria and are interested please send me an email stating your interest. Interested Members will be voted in by the other members of NewjerseyHunter.com that don't fit the criteria at this time. Members of the committee will change from year to year and will be voted in by the other members of the site. This will give everybody a fair chance at being on the committee.
The deadline for submitting names to be considered into the committee will be January 31, 2006. I will then post the names on the website and I will see if Kris (Dragthor) can setup a voting box that the other members can vote the person of there choice into the committee votes will only be one vote per member for the person they choose. Voting will begin on Feb 1, 2006 and end on Feb 10, 2006.

Thanks Again

Sounds like a fair system.

Are previous year "comittee" members allowed to apply again?

You know, like someone who wrote a pretty thorough evaluation of a certain arrow rest. (CoughMEcoughcough)

hmmm... too bad, I would have enjoyed testing some of these things.  But I am excluded because I don't post as much as some.

Oh well...maybe by next year...

Great idea.  I am sure we have all had some expensive experiments. I think the chat idea to exchange results is good as well.

The way it will work is if you use a product and like the turn out or dislike the turnout right up the results and they will be posted. But what I would like to see is people on the committee contacting manufactures and seeing if they will send you the product to test. There are alot of manufactures out there that would be glad to send you something to test, some want the itme back and some let you keep it for taking the time to test it and posting the review.

Sean, I send out some letters asking for products to be tested by our committee members. I'll let you know if any reply to them... so far I wrote to RazorCap, RealTree, Scent-lok, Scentblocker, Magnus broadheads, and the Fred Bear Archery Company to name a few.

I agree I have 839 posts, but I almost never put 1 word posts. This should be weighed on the content of the posts.

How about me read some of my posts to see if I am knowleagable and put out the effort in contributing. I know I only joined in early december but at my post rate per day that should account for something?
