Jug-handle ramp, Rt 514, in Edison.

Actually saw a really "nice" buck in a tiny little woods patch, along with a group of maybe 4 or 5 antlerless.

Shocked, to say the least.

You should see some of the sheds my uncle has from going through all the tiny briar thickets in jug handles.  Lots of big bucks seek refuge on those 100sqft islands on the highways.

you will find deer anywhere their are rivers and railroad tracks.  They will follow them for miles and miles.

Running down Broad Street in Woodbury. Middle of the day, cars bumper to bumper, not a tree in sight and a basket 6 running down the center line.

In the hallway of an office building. It broke in the window and got caught in there. That thing really demolished the first floor of that building.

Chris, this patch of woods consists of like 20 trees(ok, little more), but its bordered by roads, row homes, a warehouse district and thats it !

I pass by this area every time I go to school, and I always wondered if I'd see a DEER, never thought I'd see a buck like that.

I was very surprised. It makes sense though, like you said, they seek refuge in areas that are likely over looked, and they are safe, there.

there is alot of deer in Lodi and Saddlebrook.  They are in the Cemetary which is along the Saddle river.  A few train tracks cross over the river and they follow them.  Thats how one probaly ended up on rt.17 like someone earlier posted.  A night with a full moon I'm sure they start exploring and get into all crazy spaces, sometimes they just stay there where ever that may be.

in Paramus my grandparents had a 6 pointer in the backyard hopping all the fences into other peoples backyards.  It was pretty funny.  Me and my uncle watched it go over about 4 fences then it found one that was open.  We were yelling at him to go through the fence too like he would understand us. haha  My buddy saw a six pointer the night before walking down the middle of a fairly busy street in Paramus as well.

Speaking of bucks in "jughandles", on more than one occassion I have seen deer including bucks in the Cozzens lane jughandle on Rt. 1 by the North Brunswick pub.  A lot of traffic there and they are in the little patch in the middle.  Amazing.

Standing in front of my bow target at first light, perfect broadside. And, I can't be positive, but I could swear it was chuckling...

this is the gods honest truth.  when i was at college west virginia university.  we had a deer run through a plate glass window in the student union building.  it suffered mortal wounds from the glass and it ran and died in the gay and lesbian mountaineers office.  it was a small buck that i guess was dying to come out
