NJ Hunter / New Jersey Deer, Bear & Turkey Hunting / Deer Action / Deer Zone 50 / What is the best deer in zone50 you got or seen??

I've seen some nice does in places here.

I hunted a state record buck 4 years ago in 50.  I had him at 10 yards the second time i saw him but i had a 82' Dyna Bow at the time and he heard my arrow on my rest(that has never happened before or again since that old, wise deer).  I talked to the CO a few weeks later and he told me a farmer shot what would have been a state record in his field a few nites before near where i hunted him.  The day i saw him was the best and worste day of my life all wrapped up in one!!

I live in Middletown.. Hunt  alot here in 50 for the past 5 years.  Seems like there's more and more guys in the woods, and more and more stands being stolen.

Somerset co I'd say has more large bucks... where as Monmouth has more of the largest bucks. IE ... you have a better chance of shooting a 135 in Somerset and a better chance at shooting a 175 in Monmouth.

Eden... your saying the buck was bigger than the 189 Typical that is the record now?
10 point? 12 point? what was he like?

No big bucks in Somerset co either

50 has deer but you have to have the land connections to get them.

Just look at last years NJ Deer classic pictures from the 2003 hunting season.  3 of them came from zone 50. All within a mile of each other.

Greenbunch - do you hunt zone 50?
Posted:  08 Jan 2006 8:41 AM
Yes Kah1993 I normally do.  This year I never made it over to 50 although I scouted Tatum Park(which was a joke).  I stayed in zone 15 this year near my home.

most of the park hunting is pretty tough with som many guys and someparks does only. The only way to do those hunts is to get access to a surrounding property that borders it and has some cover. The deer will pile up in there.

good  plan kah1993
Posted:  09 Jan 2006 1:57 PM
Kah, you got that right.  I wish I knew someone next door to Tatum, now that would be a honey hole !!!!

I have noticed that Holmdel has acquired alot of property around Tatum and has made it Green Acres.

I hear some guy named dave shot them all.
