Lightfield makes a 3-1/2 inch sabot slug. Does anyone know if this is a super powerful slug or is it the same load as a 3" Lightfield with a buffer to make it work better in guns chambered for 3-1/2"? __________________ Gun control is being able to hit your target

It says on their website that they reccomend you used a slug that is the max size of your chamber because of the distance between the end of the shell and the beginning of the rifling in the barrel (mossberg 835, 935)
3" Hybrid elite magnum: Lightfield Hybred-Elite Magnum Maximum Expansion Saboted Shotgun Slugs Gauge Shell Length Slug Weight Muzzle Velocity Price 12 3 in 1-1/4 oz / 546 gr 1730 ft/sec Lightfield Commander IDS Controlled Expansion Saboted Shotgun Slugs: Gauge Shell Length Slug Weight Muzzle Velocity Price 12 3 in 1-1/16 oz / 465 gr 1800 ft/sec 12 3-1/2 in 1-1/16 oz / 465 gr 1900 ft/sec. No reason ballistically to shoot a 3 1/2" slug vs. 2 3/4". |

I have always believed that with slugs you need to have the shell length match the chamber length so that the sabot engages the rifling properly. Quote:
No reason ballistically to shoot a 3 1/2" slug vs. 2 3/4". I agree the only reason I am looking at the 3.5" slugs is because my gun is chambered for 3.5" My next question: Does any know what store in North Jersey carries the 3.5" Lightfields? Thanks all that replyed __________________ Gun control is being able to hit your target

I prefer using the shorter slugs because they are more than enough knockdown power. Has anyone ever fired regular rifle slugs meant for a smoothbore in a rifled slug barrel. I have some 2.75 Brenekes and Actives that heve been in my ammo box for years. The Brennekes shot very well out of my S&W 916T smooth bore 20" slug barrel. Unfortunatly that gun is not in working order anymore and I don't think they make those Breneke slugs any more. __________________ Gun control is being able to hit your target
