NJ Hunter / New Jersey Hunting / Hunter and Angler Lounge & Bar / My Garden is gone.....

I was away over the weekend in PA at a family funeral and came back yesterday evening. I noticed my 5 ft wire fencing was down on one side of the garden. As I approached the garden closer I could see that the metal stake was bent about 45 degrees. Apparently a deer jumped over the fencing, where I tie off the fencing so I can get in and out, and it pulled the fencing away from the stake and was paritially laying on the ground. There were no bear tracks anywhere, I looked very carefully for some. Just deer track and crap all over.
Needless to say I lost everything. 7 tomato plants, 8 different pepper plants, 4 pole beans, 4 cucumber and 3 eggplant.

I am totally depressed today....

If only there was a management hunt nearby so you could thin the herd a bit.

Sorry for your loss!   . . . but

now I know that you'll be inspired to take out a few of those does for us.

Sam that sucks, what kind of peppers? Hot,sweet or mixed? I'm going to be having a ton soon,I have a ton of mini bells that are red,a bunch of cherry hots and sweets that are red,my banana peppers are turning yellow and orange, tai suns are starting to turn pretty well, fish peppers are over abundant but not turned yet,(at least I don't think they are,I don't know what color they are supposed to be),My jalapenoes are about all ripe,My peter peppers are really starting to grow(i think they are peter peppers, they may have sent me the wrong type of pepper,I'll know better in a couple weeks,I never grew them before so I don't know).I have 8 plants of another pepper plant that I don't know what they are, they were supposed to be Charlestons but they aren't,I tasted one they other day and they are hot, they might be Hot banana peppers. I have like 3 types that I don't know what they are,one is hot but it's kind of has a fruity taste, all I know is that they're not what they are supposed to be.Cherry, plum and regular tomatoes are really taking off too. Maybe I'll be able to get some to you.

Tomorrow I'm going to try something with some peppers.I'm going to pick some tomatoes,Jalapeno and banana peppers.Chop the Jalapenoes and the tomatoes and add them together, then slice the Banana peppers long ways, fill the halves with the Tomato and Jalapeno mix, sprinkle some olive oil on them and top them off with some Parmesan cheese.

It's time to come clean . . . .

I broke your fence down for the deer, just to make sure that you were truly motivated for our hunt.

Just make sure you save your first 2 tags for zone 6.

Then you can go crazy in the other zones.

I sent letters in last year explaining why the border of zones 2 and 6 should be adjusted so that your area would be in zone 2.  I haven't heard anything though.

A few calls from other people might help.
