I and 2 friends got Van Light.

Very lucky and I should be very thankful to 2 guys who seperatly backed off to allow 3 friends to hunt together for all 3 bow seasons.

I will miss hunting one of my old spots that has treated me well over the years but this oppertunity may well be worth it.
The realy neat part of this is one friend JUST moved into the county and the other just went on days so in effect this is the first year the 3 of us can hunt a park together.

Thanks and you are right I beleive those who backed off when they found out we were trying to hunt it together knew that all too well them selves.
It would have been VERY easy to have bloked out our third guy with nothing we could say about it.
This property is not one of the "Big buck parks" but should be a great spot for 3 guys who will be just as happy when the other guy gets a shot as when they do, I can truly say I'm looking forward to this season!

Wescote is very good and like the mountains in the gorge

Theres another bow only near by state land and another close to that the state has.

Try D & R Greenway land trust as well in Prineton,NJ.

Theres a lot of prime bow range in NJ.

I thought of another streach around Rt 12 & 591  near the fire house along the creek the state owns that is also good.

I got there at 8:05 this morning, and there was a line out the door. People had been lined up with lawn chairs. I still got Cold Brook and Arboretum (for permit season) and felt very fortunate. There was nothing like this last year. I decided to take the morning off and spent an hour at the Echo Hill pond catching sunnies and bass on the fly rod. I love that little pond.

I want to move to Hunterdon Cty. Sportsman's paradise (by NJ standards). Very enlightened policies, from good deer management to lots of catch and release bass ponds. I think my blood pressure drops 10 point whenever I pass the "Entering Hunterdon Cty" sign on 78. I can't imagine being just 15 minutes from good hunting/fishing/shooting opportunities.

Now living in Hudson Cty. Almost an hour from good hunting/fishing. The ponds here get regularly raped by the bucket brigade, so all that's left is tiny sunfish. Hunting? Haha.

I got a permit for Musconetcong Gorge.  If anyone is familiar with the property, I would appreciate tips.

Just one of the many reasons I call it my home.

pkeeler,

Get in there and look for Oaks with acorns doing so now will require a good pair of Bino's being out of county and taking some of the uphill distances you will have to walk in there baiting will be dificult but if you assist an already dropping oak tree with a little corn once of twice a week your deer sitings will go up.
Use Google earth and take a couple of hikes coming in from either end.

Residents first now the non residents can apply is that correct?
Posted:  14 Aug 2008 5:44 PM
non-Res and all comers started today the sooner you get there the more choices you have also I THINK mail ins get opend at the close of business today so the best spots (or easy to hunt) are gone by the first two days but don't be fooled you never know whats left till you go down there and see.

Those who GOT what they wanted were there between 9am and 5 pm THE DAY BEFORE or they had someone holding their spot for them from that time on but many just waled up and got a good park after the crowd went home sooner is always better.
