i used to rail hunt down in south jersey with an outfitter when i was a kid. I can't remember the guys name but from what i've heard he's still guiding. The guides push small boats through the wild rice down there while you're on the bow shooting. They're eating wild rice and they're absolutely delicious. The key to hunting them is lining up the boats and "driving" the birds. Its a lot easier to do on the highest high tide of the month because the birds are hiding in the grass and less grass means less places to hide - so they have to fly. __________________ Fat Cat Sportfishing

Any salt medows on a full monn with a flood tide. push the boat over the sedges that are flooded with open choke and 7.5 or 8,9 shot if you can get it? Didn't need lead when i gunned them.
Mud Hens we called them. breast are ok if cooked properly seasoned. I know there were some pro guides in Fortesque and on Mareese river area. |
