NJ Hunter / New Jersey Deer, Bear & Turkey Hunting / Turkey Action / NJ State Fair Turkey Calling contest
Posted:  04 Aug 2008 5:55 PM
This coming Saturday is the NWTF Sanctioned Turkey Calling Contest at the State Fair in Augusta.
I am going to be one of the judges again this year.
Last year there weren't to many contestants and it was pretty easy for callers to win prizes and cash.
If anyone has ever thought about entering a Turkey Calling Contest ...Here's you chance...
Contest will be at the TOYOTA LIVESTOCK PAVILION at 7:00 p.m.
Be there about an hour earier to sign up.

I didn't get any names, but there weren't many participants.  4 in the Jakes, 4 or 5 adults (at least two from last year).  Some adults entered in multiple classes (Open, Friction, Amateur).  Pretty much everyone won something.

This is the 2nd year I have watched the competition and last year there were even fewer participants.  I'd do it, but I have horrible stage-fright.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest.  Maybe it's because no one wants to travel to the fair.  It is about as far north in NJ as you can go.

Perhaps more advertising and board posts along with bigger prizes might draw more competitors.

Whatever the problem is I hope it gets figured out.

The only one I know that was in it was  Scartozzi
And he ALWAYS WINS!
A couple of first time callers gave it a go and won.

Gander Mountain was going to sponser it but that fell though.

I wasn't sure who to introduce myself to.  I felt odd asking for "gobblergetter" for some reason.
