My 10 yr old son shoots a 40 lb Browning Micro Adreneline. It's a good youth bow w/ 10" of draw length adjustment.Go to a good shop and try out a couple different models.

Spend some time at a reputable shop. Try a few out. I have heard good things about the Browning Micro. The adjustable draw length is a real plus. Find out your draw length and weight and put a shout out to the members. Someone may have what you need for cheap (or maybe free to a good home).

My 13 year old is growing out of his bow now and I'll have to get one for him soon. My buddy already has dibs on the old bow.

I saw an add the other day for a whisper creek bow that is made to grow with a kid fully adjustable drawlegth.  I'm sure Sportsmans Center or Harry's Carry it.

10 inches adjustable?? That is awesome.  I shoot hoyt and have been since I was 10. My first bow other than a recurve when I was seven was a hoyt Rambo Junior.  Then I got a Hoyt Gamegetter2. I now shoot a Hoyt Ultramag.  Hoyt makes great bows and I believe they still offer youth models that will grow with your son.

My 13 year old son shoots the same bow in the 50 lb draw version.  So far, he took a 270 lb. boar and nice turkey with it this year.

Don't waste your money on the whisper creek youth bows.  I bought one for each of my kids through the internet.  They look good on paper and in the pics but once you get one up close you will see they are junk.  Very cheaply made in China.  The one had to be replaced immediately due to cracks in the limbs.  I wasn't sure if it was a defect in the camo finish or an actual crack so I emailed WC pictures and they wanted the bow back so they mailed me a replacement bow.  Their customer service is good, I got an appology from the president of the company, but the bows are not on par with the quality of other youth bows in the same price range.  The adjustibility 20-50lb draw range is kind of a joke as well.  It is drawlength dependant and at any given drawlength it seems like you only have 4-5lbs of adjustment so if you don't get lucky and hit the draw length/weight just right you will have trouble shooting the bow.  Neither of my kids can shoot theirs when set to the proper drawlength.  So now I have over $500 in WC decorations in my house, which hopefully they will grow into by next year but if their arms get too long then the weight will go up again and they may never be able to reach a good draw length/weight set up on these bows.

The diamond edge is a great bow, the parker youth bows are very nice as well.  Parker has a program where you can get the limbs changed for $50 as you go up in weight.

hey i talked to TJ today. whats your height? age 14/15? and lbs you can pull?

i have a youth darton, 45-60 lbs that adjusts to fit you (most likely) $100

if your on the taller, stronger side, i also have a mathews q2 READY TO SHOOT, arrows and all, $450

and if your looking for a new bow, TJ said he would take you to targeteers Friday, and i told him to call me if you go, ill help you find something.

there are plenty of good youth bows on the market, depending on how much you want to spend. TJ said it was a grad present, so i would say GO FOR BROKES! LOL hit up the old man for everything you can

Posted:  09 Aug 2008 8:53 AM
Yes you can, same rules as shotgun...but you need to pass the safey course for archery first.  Check out NJ Fish & Game, look under Take Your Education Course.

Better not have too many of them beers at 12 especially when hunting

Unless they have changed the rules in the last few years you should be able to get a NJ archery license with your PA license/hunter safety card since archery is included on your PA license.
