Marlin 1895GS .45/70.  Anyone have this gun?  Likes?  Dislikes?

Don't have one yet, but thought about buying the laminated maple version some day

Great rifle. Perfect for "up close and personal" with big game. I have the 1895. The 1895GS is definitely a fast handling rifle.

I have the 1895G in Blue, rather than stainless.  I absolutely love the thing and it's my go-to rifle for deer in heavy woods.  I added a scout scope mount (thanks Paul W.) for really fast target acquisition and I have been shooting the Hornady LeverEvolution ammo, which about doubles the effective range.  You really need to evaluate it relative to your shooting needs and likely hunting terrain.

It looks like a great gun. I'd probably go for the blued version. Just a personal preference. I like the caliber and it looks like a quick handling rifle.
