| I can only use a 3in shell in my CZ mallard and was wondering if you all think I will have a tough time knocking geese down with that I figure if I use bb that should be able to knock them down at the farthest 40 yards. I was hopeing to get a new gun in 31/2 for geese but thats not going to happen so I have to work with what I have. I have been using #2 black clouds for ducks and they seem to work nice. So what do you guys think will give me the best knock down power? | ||

| as long as you don't "sky blast" them and let them decoy, any load will work. As long as you let them get in range and hit them in the head, you wont have problems. The guys I hunt with use anything from 1's to T's. | ||

| i usually use 3.5's but just got a case of winchester dryloks in 3in BB and only paid 100 bux which i thought was a pretty good deal. might keep it around for friends when they want to come out with me. i really like the blackcloud loads but it can be a little rough on the old wallet. | ||

| i use fasteel bb's and as mentioned above, let them decoy and they do great. i have a 3 1/2" beretta and i only shoot the 3" shells. saves $$$ when you shoot over a case a year. | ||

last year i put a pretty decent dent in the goose population with an old mossberg 500 with a fixed mod choke and 2 3/4 steel winchester loads. you just have to know your guns limits and only take the shots you can make with your gun. a 3 or 31/2 will not make you more accurate, and they will break the bank, esp if you do alot of shooting. stick with winchester 3in steel BB __________________ Hunting isnt catch and release

i use 2 3/4 BB and have no problem. i put a full long range steel chock in my remington trap gun and reach out and knock them down with now questions...
some geese i lead a good 8-10 feet. keep that barrel swinging to get the "string" of pellets and they tumble. i think the forcing cones in my trap gun help the pattern stay tight, i fully believe its the gun. i take more geese with my 2 3/4 trap gun than my 3 1/2 turkey gun. __________________ Jersey Jays Taxidermy
