I ordered my new test feeder I will be trying out this season, I went with this Moultrie feed and power set up.
Moultrie Phantom Quiet Feeder with 6.5 Gallon Bucket Rechargeable 6-Volt Battery American Hunter 6-Volt Solar Panel I'll be setting it up as soon as it gets here so I can hard wire and mount the solar panel. This should work to be a self contained unit and not need the batteries changed again and again. Hopefully it will be like the trailcam I built and just need to be fulled with feed now and then. I want a feeder set up that is quiet and will be self contained and only drop out just enough feed to last the day so they should primarily only hit it in the day light hours and not continually have feed laying there for them day and night. I will not be hunting over it just want to keep them hitting this property through out the season since it's pretty much just swamp and other then some cover and a few deer that pass thru during the rut and sometimes bed on it, other then that there isn’t much to keep them here all season. Time will tell and I'll post a report to confirm if it remains self contained for months on end. I have a Moultrie Camera set up like this that has been working out so far so I see no reason the feeder shouldn’t run just as well. I will mount this same camera up at the site to see how it all works out, hopefully I only need to full it once a month and can swop out the chip in the camera every couple weeks or so to see how things are working and not have to disturb the whole area with sweat and my constant carry feed in presents. __________________ Pete's Archery Service & NJH.com ProStaff ProFile

Jack, how do you like it ? is it as quiet as it claims verses the vibrating feeder ?
I’ve been meaning to get and try this one out since last season, let me know what you think of it. __________________ Pete's Archery Service & NJH.com ProStaff ProFile

| It's quiet but not silent as advertised. Especially when it gets cold and the plastic the corn hits on the way down makes noise. I covered the plastic with brown felt to dampen the sound which helps. The battery life is very good. When filled to capacity and the timer is almost all the way to 15 seconds it will last a solid week. I'm thinking of getting a larger pail so that it would go two weeks before reloading. | ||

| It feeds twice a day (no option) you can control how long it spins which I believe is between 6-15 seconds. The first is just after day break and the second is an hour before dusk. | ||

You mean it can't be set for only one feeding a day That's correct. Here you go buddy, check it out. It says 30 minutes before dusk but mine is actually more which is better: http://images.ebsco.com/pob/moultrie/catalog/MFH-Q6.5%20Phantom%2 ... |

I’ll see if I can find a way to bypass the dusk feeding, I would only like it to go off once at around 7:00am But I guess the morning feeding at first light will have to do, I'll see what I can figure out once it gets here ![]() __________________ Pete's Archery Service & NJH.com ProStaff ProFile

I like my feeders to be noisy. It's like dinner bell for the deer. ![]() __________________ EAT SLEEP HUNT Make your dreams a reality. Take a kid hunting. Film your next hunt. www.nloutdoors.com
