NJ Hunter / New Jersey Deer, Bear & Turkey Hunting / Deer Action / Deer Zone 9 / Taking Muzzy Test Tomorrow
Posted:  22 Jul 2008 2:36 PM
I'll be taking my rifle test tomorrow.  Don't know why I didn't take all three way back when, but I'll be taking the last of the three tomorrow.  Hopefully, this weekend I will be focused on buying my first muzzy.

Need to review the video again tonight and then a long commute out to Clinton tomorrow evening.  Never shot one before, but it cannot be any worse of a kick than a 30-06.

You will only be shooting 50 grains during the test.  You won't even feel the kick.

The Division just got a bunch of new, in-line T/C Triumph muzzys for the hunter safety program (phasing out the sidelocks, since few of the graduates will go on to use them anyway).
For purposes of the course, you'll only be shooting a single 50 gr. pellet behind the sabot bullet. Not bad at all (women & children have no problems with this load). There's no accuracy test, just shooting downrange at a cardboard target. Instructors are looking to see that you can safely load, handle & fire the rifle.
There's also a few rounds to be fired from a .22 bolt action rifle, as part of the rifle course. No sweat!

I'll also be there tomorrow with my girlfriend's father.  He's going for muzzy, and I've got nothing to do.  Got mine back in march   It's a breeze, no worries.  See ya there!

Thanks.  Just a bit uncertain with all the different terminology when it comes to muzzleloaders, but I think I will figure it all out.

CustomMade, maybe I will see you there.  I'll be wearing a red Pierce Fire Engine hat.
