The moultrie I-40 is a great camera, but the 2008 version has some minor time delay issues. If you can get a 2007 that hasn't been upgraded with the 2008 software-keep it!

Dawgs...If you're looking for an infrared cam thats on the less expensive side...

WildView by Stealtcam.

I have a Wildview IR and its a good cam. Its a 4.0 MP cam. Takes very clear photos but NO color photos during the day.

dawgs, there is a polock in north jersey that will camp out at your bait site for $750.00 dollars for the year. he uses a 35 mm camera. just pay him for the film ,developing and wine.

Go to the moultrie web site and look for the download camera softwear for the I40. It will list the current version. When shopping-look at the box the camera is in and make sure the camera does not have the current soft ware.

Moultrie ut out the current software in an attempt to correct a minor "white out" issue(flash going off in daylight causes to much light and picture is whited out). While the new software did loads to correct what was otherwise a minor issue-it also caused a time delay in the trigger speed of the camera. The camera was triggering in 1 second or less-with the current software, that trigger speed is up to 3 and 4 seconds!-I would rather have a minor white out issue on an otherwise great cheap camera

I would like to add that my first Moultrie I40 camera had the "whiteout" issue and it was more than minor.  Any daytime pictures were basically all white and you couldn't see anything in it.  I returned the camera and got a new one on(12/07) and it works very well.  One other thing.  Even though the battery life is touted as oustanding, and it is, around when it hits 70% there is a rather significant drop-off in the quality of the picture at night while it uses the infra-red flash.  The pictures are much more grainy and the flash does not light up the area as much.  Other than this it's still a great deal but that does not include the latest trigger speed problem mentioned here.

i own wildview extreme 2.0 megapixel cameras. got em around christmas time and they were $100 for a 2 pack. can't go wrong.

battery life leaves something to be desired, but for the money, they cannot be beat.

There are many after market security boxes for a variety of game cameras that range from $30.00 to $100.00-most provide significant protection-when combined with the modern braided steel security cables (Viper, Kryptonite, etc...)

Address in a PM. Send the 31 you hacked and I will take a look at that one too. A good chance you nuked it . Those pins are close and if you have a solder bridge thats all she wrote.

It will take me a little longer then the first time I worked on a cam for you. Work is killer for me right now but I will get to it as soon as I can. All I ask is you drop money to ship it back to you when I am done.

I have a wildview by stealthcam $50-60 and takes nice pics and if someone walks off with it it won't hurt so bad. Cons: no date or time display
